Executive Summary
JCB Employee Introduction Website
Development and Research Usability
JCB is an international manufacturing corporation that builds heavy machinery. It is based out of the United Kingdom and the North American Headquarters is located in Pooler, GA near Savannah. During my employment in the Human Resources department I collaborated with one of the managers to develop a website new employees could use as an introduction/orientation to employment with JCB. The company website was management by a development team in the UK and the HR department in North America wanted a remotely accessible site tailored United States and Canadian employees.

This artifact includes a link to the website, the PDF Usability Test, a PDF of the Usability Test Report, and a PDF of the results including data.
There were 5 steps taken to complete the project:
1) Built the wireframe
2) Created a prototype
3) HR Manager approval
4) Research Usability
Usability Test
Analyze and report data
5) Complete changes and launch
I managed the process from beginning to launch, arranging meetings with the HR manager throughout. Although I created the website, research instruments, and developed the reports, I worked with an excellent team of people to complete scheduling and testing. The site ( www.JCBEmploymentIntro.com) is made up of five main pages: Home Page, About JCB, Resource Portal, Benefits, and Lifestyle and Savannah Area. It has four more secondary pages within the main pages. Before the website was launched, a usability test was completed. I was able to gather qualitative and quantitative data as well as lead peers in the management and development of this project.

The website’s original design is influenced from JCB’s branding and the appearance of the existing public website, (www.jcbna.com). It needed to be consistent with the public marketing JCB website. Weebly was used as the site development platform.
Project Reflection
I feel confident that this website will be utilized within JCB’s Human Resources department and become a large benefit to their on-boarding process. I learned a large amount going through each step of this project. There were specific obstacles to be overcome such as manager approvals and meeting branding specification set forth by the companies marketing team; all previous to completing the site. I think the most beneficial was understanding accessibility and how difficult navigating websites can be for a large part of our population. I also gained appropriate research skills that included using a variety of instruments to collect data and report the findings. I then was able to use those findings to make competent decisions about the direction of the corrections within the site. I collaborated with a team to managed the project and reach the necessary milestones in order to complete by deadline. This experience expanded my project management and technology skills within a new industry and corporate environment.
